The challenge

According to an ING Economic Bureau study, Dutch people use 26 million pieces of plastic packaging annually, and it is still growing to around 100 million pieces every year. However, only 7% of this amount of used plastic packaging is reused as material to produce new packaging, and around 47% is recycled.

The solution

Based on these drawbacks of plastic in general and plastic packaging in specific, we came up with the solution of using the rachis of palm trees as material to produce sustainable packaging and tableware for the F&B industry in the Netherlands.
