The challenge

Annually, over 2 billion people engage in online shopping, contributing to a substantial expenditure of approximately 6.3 trillion USD in 2023. This widespread online consumer activity also translates to the generation of a significant environmental burden, including 353 million tonnes of plastic waste and various other harmful materials each year. Notably, the lack of environmentally conscious purchasing behavior can be attributed to a range of factors. In response to this issue, I propose a solution to improve sustainable consumer choices.

The solution

I propose the development of a browser extension and a mobile application designed to assist users in distinguishing between environmentally friendly products and those that are not. Essentially, this tool aims to guide users towards more sustainable alternatives as they navigate through their shopping experience.
